Vols Tight Ends Excel vs. Kentucky

One of the biggest differences in the Tennessee Volunteer offense from 2013 to 2014 is the use of the tight end position in the passing game. In 2013, the Vols tight ends combined for 15 catches and 98 yards. In 2014, the Vols tight ends have combined for 32 catches and 337 yards through 10 games.

Bajakian Calls for Dig in 2 Minute Drill

Late in the fourth quarter against South Carolina, the Tennessee Volunteers were in a tough spot. Sophomore quarterback Josh Dobbs was starting his first game of the season, and the Vols were down 7 points at their own 15 yard line with 1:23 left in the game and no timeouts to work with. So what did Dobbs do? He promptly drove the Vols all the way down the field for a touchdown. This put the game into overtime, where the Vols would eventually come out on top. Eagles Hit Big Plays With Air Raid Staple “Y Cross”

The Philadelphia Eagles had a big night on Monday, defeating the Carolina Panthers 45-21. In his first start in Philadelphia, quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for 332 yards and 2 touchdowns. Almost a third of those yards came on one passing concept. Head coach Chip Kelly called for the Eagles to run Y Cross 6 times. The results were very good. Sanchez was 5/6 for 108 yards (18 yd average) and a touchdown. So let’s look at how Philadelphia was so successful with this concept.

How Did Croom Get So Wide Open?

The Tennessee Vols just completed the third best 4th quarter comeback in school history. They came back from down 14 to South Carolina, scoring 14 in the final 1:50 of regulation before winning in overtime, 45-42.

How Did Bajakian Scheme Receivers Open vs. Bama?

The Tennessee Volunteers saw a lot of success on the ground versus Alabama. When quarterback Josh Dobbs was inserted into the game, the scheme completely changed and the Vols had their best game of the season rushing the ball. There were some new running plays, and the offense was more effective as a whole. This was also evident in the passing game as offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian called some creative plays that we had not seen before (or rarely seen) to get receivers wide open for Dobbs. Tennessee Attacks 2 Under in 2 Minute Drill

With 1:17 left in the first half, Tennessee had the ball at their own 17 yard line and trailed to the Georgia Bulldogs, 21-10. Georgia was set to get the ball to start the second half and had scored a touchdown on each of their previous 3 possessions, so the Vols desperately needed a quick drive to put points on the board and keep the game close.
