Two of the biggest plays in the first half of the Tennessee-Florida game came when the Volunteers went to trick plays. The Vols offense struggled all game, but these two trick plays led to touchdowns for the Vols and opened up the sputtering offense. What I found most interesting about the plays was that they are not new to anyone familiar with head coach Butch Jones or offensive coordinator Mike DeBord. Both of the plays have been run by the Tennessee coaches at their previous stops, so it was cool to see a blast from the past as the coaches reached back and called some old trick plays. Missouri Tricks Arkansas, Scores 2
In their 21-14 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Missouri Tigers ran one of the best 2 point conversion plays of the season. The play involved all sorts of trickeration, as there was a direct snap to the running back, reverse to the slot receiver, then a throw back to the split end for the score. So how did Missouri offensive coordinator Josh Henson dream up this play? Continue reading “Missouri Tricks Arkansas, Scores 2”
Red Wolves Use Reverse, Fake Reverse to Score

Vols Pull Out Double Reverse
In 2013, Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian called a reverse for his slot receiver. The Vols showed this play once earlier in 2014 against Arkansas State. Against Georgia, Bajakian added a new wrinkle to the play: a double reverse. Continue reading “Vols Pull Out Double Reverse”
Vols Dial Up Trick Play vs. Utah State
One of the more interesting plays Tennessee ran against Utah State was a play that was unsuccessful and, as a result, did not get much attention. Late in the second quarter, the Vols were starting a drive at the Aggies 45 yard line and offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian dialed up a trick play to attempt to give Tennessee an easy score.
